Week of October 6th....

Welcome Back from Fall Break! Hope everyone had a restful week!

Honors:
Those nominated for Gov. Honor's will have their interview at FCBOE on Wednesday morning. Good luck to all of those nominees! We will be reading "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" this week. This sermons contains examples of effective rhetoric. Students will write a response when we finish discussing which rhetorical device is most effective. Keep reading The Scarlet Letter at home!

AP Lit:
Poetry Project notebooks are due today. We will complete our critical theory readings, concluding with Achebe. We will then begin Achebe's novel, Things Fall Apart. This novel will serve as a contrast to Conrad's portrait of Africa. Students have certain sections to read each week, questions, and a quiz. We will also do some multiple choice practice this week for the AP exam. As the exam approaches, we will begin to do that more often.

Reminder! Students wishing to take the AP exam must pay a $15.00 per test they wish to take by Friday, December 12th.

American:
We are going to pick back up with the Puritans this week. We will be finishing our discussion on Chapters 1-2 of The Scarlet Letter and writing a response about the significance of one of the symbols. We will also begin Puritan poetry this week.
